Meet LANA

Thirty years ago, I knew what I needed. I felt it in my soul, but those who loved me most had convinced me it wasn’t possible. It was as though I had misplaced a part of myself.

I tried to follow all the conventional “change your life” advice, but instead of expanding my world, the effort slowly buried my sense of wonder and optimism. The truth is, I didn’t have a dream. I simply trusted my imagination and believed that, somehow, it would become reality.

I've found that life is all about connections. . T I've found that life is all about connections. . That instant recognition between strangers that wipes away all barriers. It can create wonderful opportunities and experiences while traveling to different places and cultures ...... or just enrichen your everyday life. . Last year, while visiting the UK, a chance connection for ground passes to Wimbledon. Since I'm a huge tennis fan (Roger and Nadal!) this was an extra wonderful surprise. . It was a day full of continuous delight and interesting people....some of who I still keep in touch with while others just made the day more special. (Like @ryquinn_ at the end of the video, who was celebrating his Bday.  I met him at the Pimm's stand while I was anticipating tasting my first Pimm's ever.)(They are extremely tasty!) . So put your phone down, let go, and immerse yourself in the immediate world around you. On paper we were living the American dream... A Place in the Fl Keys with a boat, and a 215 acre farm in the NC mountains complete with my horses. . It wasn't about not appreciating the life we'd created, but about living it fuller and more deeply. We've always realized we are part of the 20% of the people with the variant of the DRD4-7R gene that demands new experiences and exploration. . Exploring our varied passions has driven us forward and enriched us throughout our lives. But, having traveled all over the world, it was finally time to work toward my dream of living in Italy. . Over the next 6 weeks after our impromptu decision we sold both our properties, rehomed my horses, and pretty much sold or gave away everything we owned except sentimental items. . Now it was time for the big step. First it was island of Malta, a great place to face the challenges and excitement of upending your life while being able to speak English. 2 years later, it could only be Italy.... But Then Came Covid. Well, we all have our pandemic stories, but the happy ending to mine is that I am finally back, walking in the foot steps of the Romans who have so fascinated me my whole life.... . The road (pathway) less traveled.⁠ .⁠ I know, I kn The road (pathway) less traveled.⁠ .⁠ I know, I know...who hasn't taken this iconic picture when they visit Capri. ⁠ .⁠ Can you really blame me?⁠ .⁠ This beautiful pathway called Via Krupp was built In the early 20th century at the behest of Friedrich Alfred Krupp. The purpose was to link Marina Piccola, where he habitually moored his yacht each summer, to the area around Augustus Gardens and his lodgings. ⁠ .⁠ Unfortunately, due to falling rocks, the pathway is closed off to foot traffic and all you can do is admire from above. The recipe for a perfect Capri evening. ⠀ .⠀ The b The recipe for a perfect Capri evening. ⠀ .⠀ The beautiful setting of the Ignazio Cerio Museum terrace with a backdrop of the main square and Marina Grande, a mild breezy night with a slight chill in the air, and the enchanting voice of Emilia Zamuner.⠀ .⠀ We stumbled upon this event on the internet and didn't regret making the effort to attend. With WG being an Jazz musician and me a Jazz fan, it was refreshing to see this level of music being offered for free in Capri. ⠀ .⠀ Emilia won second place for the "Ella Fitzgerald Competition" in Washington and was the only European competing. She was accompanied by Enrico Valanzuolo and Francesco Scelzo, ⠀ .⠀ I can't say enough about this trio. Emilia is especially vibrant and charismatic.
